Helped a client extend the service life of aging gears by a couple of years until planned replacement, while significantly reducing waste from used open gear lubricant.
Why we were called
The customer was looking for an alternative to help extend the service life of the gears for a couple of years until they could be replaced. They also needed to reduce the waste lubricant generated by the used, open gear lubricant.
What We Saw
The gears were severely worn on a 4-pier lime kiln using a major manufacturer’s liquid, open gear lubricant.
How We Helped
We installed a new lubrication system to lubricate all three kilns at once. Isolation valves were installed to control lubricant flow to kilns that were offline.
